A major/minor-harmony with no final chords, the ground notes are always temporary and elusive. The score doesn't have tempo markings, dynamics, legato slurs or any instructions at all except for the pitch and length of the notes. The musicians didn't get any information about style, aesthetics or expression before the recording. Counterpoint and harmony is the only context for their musical interpretation.

Den här inspelningen av INHABITANTS I gjordes som en undersökning. Zilliacus och Raitinen spelar avista, alltså första gången de ser noterna. Det finns inga föredragsbeteckningar, dynamiska angivelser eller tempoangivelser. Jag ville undersöka om det var möjligt att göra en musikalisk tolkning utifrån en kontext bestående av enbart kontrapunktik och harmonik. De fick heller inga muntliga instruktioner så de var helt omedvetna om stil och uttryck.
